In August, a group of our Kabi Kabi Land and Sea Rangers had the opportunity to participate in the QILSR Leadership Program, held right here on the Kabi Kabi country 19-21 August 2025.
This statewide initiative brings together Indigenous Rangers from across Queensland to build leadership capability, share knowledge, and strengthen networks between Ranger teams. Over the three-day program, participants engaged in a range of workshops, cultural exchanges, and on-country learning activities designed to develop professional skills and deepen cultural connection.
Our Kabi Kabi Rangers were proud to represent Country and welcome fellow Rangers to our lands. As part of the program, we led a guided tour of key sites on Kabi Kabi Country, where artefacts and other cultural markers have been discovered. It was an honour to share stories, histories, and ongoing work in caring for Country with mob from all over the State.
The experience not only supported the leadership journey of our Rangers but also strengthened relationships across the Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger network. Opportunities like this are vital in developing the next generation of cultural leaders and ensuring the knowledge of our Ancestors continues to guide our work.
We thank the QILSR Program for supporting the development of Indigenous Rangers and for hosting such a meaningful gathering on Kabi Kabi Country.
